Solutions for Information Design, LLC (SOLID) is a small, woman-owned business located in Northern Virginia. SOLID was formed in 2003 by partners Lisa Lutz and Tom Caldwell to fulfill their vision of a responsive, efficient company that combines dedication, creativity and technical expertise to provide customized, high-quality information design services delivered with personal care and attention.

Lisa Lutz has over 20 years of experience as a Policy Analyst. She has worked in this capacity at both the federal and state levels of government and as a consultant to public and private sector clients. This exposure to a wide range of organizational missions, subject matter areas, and stakeholder information needs has given her the ability to quickly grasp difficult subject matter, assess client needs and develop effective solutions. Lisa’s expertise spans a number of areas, including program evaluation, qualitative and quantitative research, workforce development, occupational and job analysis, and web project management. She has participated in and led numerous projects in these areas.
In the past 15 years, Lisa has developed specialized expertise in the areas of education, employment and training of military service members and veterans. Her work in this area has concentrated on research and analysis of programs and policies designed to promote the professional development of service members and ensure their smooth transition from the military to the civilian workforce. She has extensive expertise in the use of civilian credentialing as a method of reducing barriers to transition. She has performed research in this area for numerous organizations, including the Congressional Commission on Servicemembers and Veterans Transition Assistance, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Navy. Based on her expertise in this area, Lisa has been appointed by the Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs to two advisory committees on which she served for over seven years.
Tom has over 20 years of experience helping companies meet their communication needs through innovative information design for a wide variety of audiences. Using extensive experience in the corporate and technical communications fields and training in programming, Tom brings a unique set of skills to web site design and information management.
In addition to handling programming duties, he can help clients integrate their web-based development with their other marketing and communications efforts, and can assist in shaping messages and content for diverse audiences and purposes.
Jeff brings over 23 years of project and program management experience to the SOLID team. Throughout his career, he has managed a wide variety of public and private sector energy conservation and building construction projects. Jeff has had several supervisory and leadership positions throughout his career.
Jeff is experienced in managing all aspects of the project life cycle – initiation and due diligence, planning, implementation and close out. Jeff excels at providing creative solutions to clients’ problems. He is adept at communicating with clients project progress and issues that may impact budget, schedule or quality. His problem-solving and analytical capabilities allow him to manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines so that projects are delivered on-time and within budget.
