Design
conveys meaning and invokes feelings. Good design can carry a message,
while bad design can bury it. Design should enhance the message and never
get in its way.
Design is critically important, no matter what the media or the message. People react strongly to design, and they react strongly to the lack of it.
We think if it’s worth doing, it’s worth designing.
That is our design philosophy in a nutshell. Solid is committed to bringing you cost-effective information design solutions that will best meet your goals and surpass your—and your audience's—expectations.
Information
can be defined as a collection of facts and data. The Art of Information is
crafting the presentation of facts and data into an engaging, useful and
efficient design that promotes communication goals while pleasing the eye
and the mind.
Solid uses a pallet of technology, research, skills, talent and experience to practice its Art of Information. We design information to build a bridge between your communication goals and your audience's needs, expectations, and goals.
We are passionate about what we do. Contact us and let us apply our passion and our Art of Information to your next project.
“Template” is a bad word around here. We don't use them. Templates make sense in a high-volume, mass-production operation. But then, who wants a mass-produced web site or web application?
Your
project is important, and it deserves its own design consideration. Your
audience is no less important—they deserve attention and consideration
as well. Solid staff take the time to analyze, understand and design every
project, big or small. You won't find a cookie cutter in any of our offices.
Solid designers take the time to get to know your organization and understand your needs. Our goal is to integrate design, communication, and technology to provide high-impact, customer-centered sites and applications.
Using an iterative design process, we work with you to set measurable goals and will repeatedly refine and test design prototypes until the end product meets or surpasses those goals.
Information design doesn't just apply to how things look. It also applies to how things work. When designing web applications, Solid staff design the user's experience. For example:
Solid designers are careful to understand project requirements and the communication goals for the application. We then work to understand the target audience's expectations, preferences, interests and goals in using the application. Finally, we use the latest technology and methods to build a bridge connecting the audience to the information and purpose the application represents.

Solid’s approach to print design recognizes the lasting impact print materials can (should!) have. Printed materials are tools that can do specific things: make a sale, inform about services, create a lasting impression.
Your goals and objectives drive our designs. We take the time to learn what you want from a document, and then use our experience and talent to ensure it will serve your purposes.
In proposing a design, we consider:
We use color, typography, layout and graphics to develop engaging, easily understood documents that are integrated with your other materials and your web site.
Solid believes every document is an opportunity to create an indelible imprint.
